CONLON Reps Ghiradelli Chocolate

Press Release

CONLON Commercial represented Ghiradelli Chocolate in a recent retail lease transaction on the Magnificent Mile.

The chocolate and ice cream company leased about 7,000 square feet in the south tower of the iconic Wrigley Building, 400-410 N. Michigan Ave., says David Goldberg of CONLON Commercial. The new store is expected to open on Memorial Day.

“It was a flagship opportunity for a flagship tenant,” Goldberg says. “The building has so much history and character and so does Ghiradelli. It was a good match.”

News of the deal was reported in Crain's Chicago Business, Chicago Tribune and other local media outlets.

The new Ghiradelli store will include about 1,300 square feet of ground-floor space, including frontage on Michigan Avenue, and more space on the second floor, which includes seating for up to 100 people.

The San Leandro, Calif.-based company has 23 locations nationwide, including one at 830 N. Michigan Ave. That store will remain open.

The chocolatier's roots can be traced back to the time when Domingo Ghirardelli started selling confections and supplies to miners during California's gold rush. In 1852, he started a confectionary company that became Ghirardelli Chocolate Co.
